Yes, I take my bloody time. I know.
Hey, at least I'm still alive, right? And I've posted a couple of new things. "I Can Hear You," and "The Power" are both up--or will be. That Moderator queue, you know...
Still writing. Chugging away on Book II of the "Nightlord" trilogy. Darn sequels. I keep having to refer back to my notes on the first one, "Nightlord: Sunset," to make sure I'm not goofing something up. Part of the problem is the first-person narrative. What did the protagonist know in the first book? I know all about What's Going On, but how much did he know about any particular aspect?
Still, being an author beats honest work.
You can find "Nightlord: Sunset" Here.
"Luna," by the way, is also available. Go Here. If you didn't get a chance to read the first dozen-plus chapters here on Elfwood, the rough draft of the first chapter is still up, and there's a book excerpt here. If you have a favorite bookstore, just ask them about it; they can probably order it for you!
Credit Where Credit Is Due:
NeonGryphon (www.NeonGryphon.com) created the cover art for "Luna." Thus does she maintain her title of "Most Excellent Lady of Illustrative Art, and My Official Picturesque Person to Novel Covers." Also known as "my favorite cover artist." I anticipate flogging her to draw the "Nightlord: Midnight" cover, too, sometime before I get married, have kids, and retire to Cancun.
Oh, and the obligatory useless information, shamelessly copied from the "Luna" dust jacket:
Garon Whited was supposedly born in either 1969 or 1970; the original birth certificate is suspiciously unavailable and other records do not agree. After spending some years in college playing role-playing games, he finally settled down into a steady job working with computers—and still plays role-playing games. An affinity for science fiction and fantasy has condemned him to write whenever he has a chance, despite therapy involving shocks and rubber hoses. He claims he lives on this planet, but impartial observers have expressed some doubt. His address is in Texarkana.
Now, go order a copy of the books.
Done? Good. Now click on a story and leave a comment!

This is not acceptable! The other problem is that you have so many REALLY GOOD stories in here that are crying out to be finished! I hate to pressure you, as I know all too well how fickle muses can be, but I’d love to see more! As would your publishers, I’ve no doubt... Garon E. Whited replies: "I think I’m going to be apologizing for a long time about that... Well, not about having lots of stories, but not finishing them. My world seems to have been engulfed in a random time-distortion field that -really- cuts into my writing time!" | |
| 7 Nov 2007 | Rachel 'Chell' Beaconsfield | Loading...I read the end because I was so impatient ^^ Now Im reading it from the start again to see whats different from the EW version. Garon E. Whited replies: "Whee! And what have you discovered?" | |
| 23 Feb 2008 | Rachel 'Chell' Beaconsfield | Loading...I discovered that I obviously could not remember much from the first time I read it! Have you made any progress getting me the proper cover credits for that title? Garon E. Whited replies: "Yes and no. I’m still struggling with being mortified over that goof. I’m assembling a production copy with www.lulu.com and that will have the corrected credits on the information page. The original production run is just bollixed, I’m afraid, but once I have the Lulu production going, that’s where new copies will be sold--correctly attributing the cover art! However, I’m trying hard to make it up to you. If I mention the book (and I do!) to anyone at all (which is everyone!) I make sure to nudge them toward the Greatest Artist of Our Generation. Would you like your picture and a cover artist blurb on the back of Nightlord: Midnight? " | |
| 17 Mar 2008 | Dragon | Loading...I have to say after finally getting to finish reading Luna, I really love the story, not that I didn’t before, but I am/was excited to finally be able to see what happens to Max and all of the morons on the moon. Actually having the few people sent back to Earth was very fitting, and I’m not so sorry to say I’m glad Svetlana went with them. I will gladly offer up almost anything for more updates to your other wonderful stories Garon E. Whited replies: "If you have a Burroughs Continua Craft handy, I could use some time spent at right angles to this time line. That would help enormously! I’m very pleased you like "Luna." Post a wonderful review at Amazon and tell all your friends! " | |
| 4 Apr 2008 | DWeimer | Loading...You are a dangerous man. I bought the eVersion of NightLord and spent the rest of the evening reading when I should have been grading student work. Can’t. Put. Book. Away... Must. Read. One more. Page... Egads! Is it really Midnight?!?!? Please, please tell me you are finishing Michael’s Story. I hate TV cliffhangers because I’m an impatient child - so waiting is torture for your updates. If there is anything I can do to help you finish... you know, grovel, sign you up for the Patron-of-the-Month club, do your laundry, run your errands... (i will gladly pay you Tuesday for a manuscript today...) I know the Muse must move, could you tell her to move it for Michael’s story? Forgive me for pestering. Writing brilliance such as yours shouldn’t really be rushed, but I WANT CLOSURE! *wandering off to seek help for my issues...* Garon E. Whited replies: "As soon as I spot Michael off-duty, I’ll buttonhole him for an update. But you know how busy those guys are... Seriously, I’m trying. There’s just so much to do, so little time. Things are looking more peaceful, I think, in the near future, so maybe, just maybe..." | |
| 11 Jul 2008 | Josh | Loading...Are you, by chance, planning to continue the Clockwerks story? Garon E. Whited replies: "Yes... but I have no idea when that particular mood will take up residence in my skull and demand its fair share! I -plan- to... someday. I know that’s not what you want to hear, but at least it’s honest!" | |
| 5 Oct 2008 | Taylor L. Coleman | Loading...Hey Uncle Garon whats up it is so cool that you have your very own web page and fans Im am so glad i was googleing you or i would not know love ya: Taylor Garon E. Whited replies: "Hey, nephew! See what happens when you wander around the Internet unsupervised? There’s no telling what you’ll find! You go tell your Mom you found me!" | |
| 20 Jan 2009 | Amanda Canine | Loading...Hello again! I thought I should stop by and say Hello since I can google you now after getting rid of that nasty virus. Take care! Manda "미녀" Canine Garon E. Whited replies: "Huzzah! Viral problems are never fun. Here’s hoping your next one is a gene therapy virus that gives you superpowers!" | |
| 1 Mar 2009 | Agatha Nicodin | Loading...I know that this will probably be the weirdest comment you’ve ever read and here it goes. So, I just wanted to thank you for a good laugh (and that is due to the little description just after your name). After this laugh be sure that I will read your stories when I find the necessary time, so that they can enjoy my full attention . I’m so happy to have found you in this woods. Garon E. Whited replies: "Always good to have reader laughter echoing in the world! And I don’t mind weird comments as long as they’re intelligible. Please do browse. I look forward to hearing from you again." | |
| 17 Mar 2009 | DebH | Loading...Please tell me you’ve seen Michael off-duty of late. I greatly desire more of his story. If you haven’t... could you update on what you ARE working on so I can wait with excitement for your next book I can purchase? thanks!!!! Garon E. Whited replies: "At the moment, Michael is somewhere in the basement. I think he’s on the bellows and helping my inner artisans on hammering out more of "Nightlord"s deities and demigods. I will add that Eric is going to wake up with a nasty headache and be in for some surprises. Not all of them are going to be bad... but enough of them to make him wonder if he should have been in such a hurry to get up and get moving again." | |
